Our History

Spabreaks.com started in London in 2007 when Abi Wright, Co-Founder and Managing Director realised there was a gap in the market for showcasing spas differently. She envisaged a world where spas were more accessible to everyone from the booking capability to price points and package offerings - whether you’re visiting for a spa day with afternoon tea, as a mum to be or after cancer treatment - things that had not been readily available before.

Joining forces with The Palatinate Group, headed up by co-founders Ross Marshall and Andrew Harding, which also runs our sister companies YourGolfTravel.com and RacingBreaks.com, and armed with her expertise from the spa hotel industry and her intimate knowledge of marketing and PR, Abi launched the spa booking agency with three members of staff. Today it is Europe’s largest spa booking agency with a growing team of around 100. A dynamic environment that prizes individuals, key team members have been with us since the start, growing into promotions and bringing their own characters to the sales environment, making it unique within the travel industry.

Since it was first launched Spabreaks.com has enjoyed a number of rewards for everyone’s hard work. They reached number two in the 2012 Virgin Fast Track 100 citing it as one of the UK’s fastest growing businesses, has seen Abi win a number of awards as a leading woman in business, the product line has grown to more than 800 venues across the world, and we send more than 6000 people on spa days and breaks each week. We have also made a name for ourselves as industry leaders, pioneering spa days and breaks for people with cancer - read more about those on our Spa for All page - and working to make spas more accessible for anyone with a disability.

Some of Our Venues

Corporate Social Responsibility

Spabreaks.com has made a name for itself as an industry innovator, leading the way in accessibility in terms of the product, working with charitable organisations including Breast Cancer Care and The Willow Foundation to introduce more people to the spa industry when they really need it, and also in the care of our own team.

Key to our developments have been the launch of our Recovery Retreats for anyone with or recovering from cancer, and our Women’s Wellness Week designed to raise discussions around mental and physical health and wellbeing. We are constantly looking to improve our working environment as well as our service, and within that have recently reduced our working hours and increased our staff benefits.

At Spabreaks.com we really do have a spa experience for everybody.  Each spa has a particular benefit to offer each of our guests.  Whether they are looking for a cost effective pick-me-up or a luxurious getaway at one of the UK’s most highly commended hotel spas, we have the spa experience to suit.  Accessibility, inclusivity and an appreciation for the phenomenal scope of spa options are all core elements of Spabreaks.com.
